What can I say other than the past 3 weeks have been a whirlwind. On Friday, October 16, Zoe took her first trip to the ER and it was by ambulance. It was her very first Hot Dog Day at school, a big deal for the kids because family members are invited to come to the school to have hot dogs over lunch then they get to hang out for a bit before they get back to their school routine. Rich and I joined her at school, ate our hot dogs and headed out to the playground. We had been outside for less than 3 minutes when we watched her get pushed from behind while she was standing on the platform at the top of a spiral slide. She went flying over the side, from 10 ft. high, did a flip, hit the ground (pea gravel) with her head and shoulder, then her body and legs came over the top of her and she landed flat on her back. We were standing about 10 ft. away from her so we got to her quickly, Rich made her lay still on the ground while I called 911. The ambulance arrived very quickly, we went to the ER, they did a CT scan, an x-ray of her shoulder, and a couple of exams, and there was absolutely nothing wrong with her other than some scrapes and bruises. All I can say is her guardian angel was on the playground that day. Needless to say, I didn't take photos to remember that day because I already have enough images in my head.
She returned to school on Monday and went on a class field trip to the nature center. She asked me to come along so I took the day off of work to go with her. The next day I picked her up from school and she had lost her second tooth. According to her she was accidentally punched in the mouth and it fell out. I swear we are not sending our child to the thunderdome to get an education - just a couple of weeks of bad luck.
Her 6th birthday was one week later on Saturday, October 24. Our nieces, Darby & Danna, stayed with us from Friday afternoon until Sunday evening and it was a packed weekend that will get its own post.
Last Wednesday, she came home from school with a fever but it went away Friday evening (after she missed the class Halloween party and the big school event in the evening). She was able to go trick-or-treating on Saturday, but the fever came back on Sunday night and didn't break until late Wednesday night. She was supposed to have her eye surgery today; however, it had to be rescheduled to November 19. When she got back to school we found out that only 5 children from her class were at school on Friday (out of a class of 18) so she really didn't miss much. Today was the first day that her class had no one absent and they only had a 1/2 day today and no school tomorrow for parent teacher conferences so hopefully everyone can heal and the plague is over. We also found out that many of the children developed pneumonia so I am feeling very thankful that all we had to deal with was a fever.
Well that sums up the last 3 weeks in words, now I will work on the picture posts for the individual events.

OH, Kim! I can't even imagine having seen that happen to Zoe. So glad that she's OK and had a great birthday!
What kind of surgery is she having on her eye?
